Maki of Japan and its popular toothpick-speared free samples of bourbon chicken are long gone if fondly remembered. But there’s a new Asian dining option for shoppers in the Southlake Mall food court. Mango Thai opened in the food court of the Southlake Malln at U.S. 30 and Mississippi Street in Hobart. It serves Asian cuisine it bills as “bold, fresh and fl avorful.” The menu includes mango chicken, other crispy chicken dishes, noodles and fried rice. “They are off ering combo meals with 1-3 entrees, noodles and rice,” Southlake Mall Marketing & Business Development Manager Kristyn Filetti said. “Entrees include some of their fl avored chicken specialties: mango, pineapple, basil, strawberry, spicy, teriyaki and curry. They also have cheese wontons, egg rolls and spring rolls.” Mango Thai took over the former Gourmet Cafe space in the food court after that restaurant moved to a slightly larger space. The Gourmet Cafe is now serving sandwiches, smoothies and other light lunch fare in a 630-squarefoot space.
